Jessica Childress is a new kind of artist. She's best described as part soul, part R&B but a whole lot of talent. On Don't Forget My Name released on 4 February, the songstress gives us a heartfelt glimpse into her heart. The songs are passionate and reminsicent of Toronto's own Divine Brown. From tracks like "Broken" to the title track, Childress gives everything on each track. After listening to this album, you surely won't forget the name Jessica Childress anytime soon. Check her out on itunes.

On 6 February, Grow Music Project (GMP), the new launch pad for emerging, independent artists, premiered its first artist. The original web series, The Session Diaries chronicles the recording sessions and the musical journey each artist takes as they craft a breakout song with GMP. The Session Diaries kicks off with Star and the Sea, a pop trio from New York City. The band's new single, "Captain and the Map," tells the story of two lovers using their different personalities to anchor themselves to one another. Check out Star and the Sea on the GMP's website.

From the jungles of South East Asia to the desert of Southern California, Life Leone has a hard edge but lots of soul. On the heels of the EP "Comes Crashing In" which was released on vinyl this past July, Life Leone is prepping a west coast tour. If you like guitar riffs, heartfelt lyrics, and a classic garage rock sound, Life Leone is waiting to be discovered. Tracks like "Offering Answers," "Lonely Teacher" and "Rome" with their hard beats and tantilizing lyrics are definitely standout tracks on the album. Check out Life Leone's website for more about his west coast tour.

Check out Turquoise Jeep, they're currently touring with Yip Deceiver (an expirimental electropop duo consisting of Davey Pierce and Nicolas Dobbratz of Montreal).
